Wayne White made this painting of a cherry pitter, and though the date’s unknown, it feels like a peek into a time when objects were built to last. Just look at that clamp—serious business. I can almost feel the artist studying this thing, trying to capture every curve and shadow. There’s something satisfying about the solidness of it, the way the light catches on the metal. You can tell he laboured, replicating every minute detail with precision and care, building up shadows through the most careful application of paint. It makes you wonder about the artist's process, their fascination with everyday objects, and their desire to elevate them to something more. I wonder if they ever thought that decades later, someone would be standing here, looking at their work, and thinking about cherries and the stories they hold.
