This image, "Washington, DC," by Rosalind Solomon, captures a family moment in what looks like someone’s home. It's a black and white photograph. Looking at it, I wonder what Solomon was thinking. Was she trying to freeze a perfect moment, or was she drawn to something deeper, something beneath the surface? Maybe it was like trying to paint a feeling, not just a face. You know, capturing the way light falls, the way a glance can say so much. The poses are quite rigid; everyone is looking at the camera, and yet, the overall feeling is one of sadness, anxiety, or worry. It’s like the figures are frozen in time. Perhaps, the artist was seeking to represent the emotional distance between the people in the photograph. Each artist engages in an ongoing conversation, influencing one another across time, igniting creativity through diverse ideas. Rosalind's image is a perfect example of that.
