"Zonsopgang te Futamigaura" (Sunrise at Futami) is a woodblock print from c. 1828-1832, created by Utagawa Kunisada, a prominent Japanese artist. The print showcases a dramatic seascape, with two large rock formations connected by a rope bridge, a traditional Shinto symbol of protection. Kunisada's signature style is evident in the dynamic composition, vivid colors, and detailed depiction of the natural elements. The print, now housed at the Rijksmuseum, is a striking example of ukiyo-e, the genre of Japanese woodblock printing that captured the beauty and everyday life of Edo-period Japan.
